Saturday, 28 March – 11 am – Veterans Council 50th Anniversary Commemorative Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day – Veterans Memorial Park – this annual event is to honor all the Veterans who have served in Vietnam, including a special remembrance for those who did not make it back. The Rolling Thunder, Florida Chapter 11 Color Guard will present Colors and the National Anthem will be sung by Hillsborough County Firefighter and Retired U. S. Marine Thurnell (Chip) Shields. The invocation will be offered by Ordained Minister Linda Pugsley, former U. S. Air Force Nurse and Vietnam Veteran and benediction offered by Ted Marshall. Featured speakers for this program are: Col Hal Youmans, USA, Retired and BGen Bernard J. Pieczynski, USAF, Retired, currently employed at US CENTCOM J5. This ceremony will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War as recognized by the Department of Defense Announcement of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Program. This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend to show your support for America’s service members. Refreshments will be provided by the Women and Men’s Auxiliaries of the VFW Post 8108, Riverview, FL at the main Pavilion next to the Museum Bldg.
