Saturday, 11 October – 11:00 am – Field of Honor Ceremony – Veterans Memorial Park, 3602 U.S. 301, Tampa, FL 33619 – the Hillsborough County Veterans Council will be conducting their quarterly Field of Honor Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Park 3602 US Highway 301 North, Tampa, Florida to honor all of those Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine and Cost Guard service men and women who have made the supreme sacrifice during the past three months,July to September 2014 while engaged in this country’s War on Terror in Operation Enduring Freedom. This quarter’s event will be hosted by the 6^th Security Forces Squadron, MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL. Sickles High School USAF JROTC will present the colors. The National Anthem will be sung by Thurnell (Chip) Shields, USMC, Retired and Hillsborough County Firefighter. The invocation will be offered by CMSGT Larry Westcott, USAF, Retired,Veterans Council Chaplain. There will be a fly over with the missing man formation by Ye Mystic AirKrewe. On display will be Rolling Thunder, Inc., Florida Chapter 11, Brandon’s POW/MIA Missing Man Chair mounted on a stainless steel trailer towed by a member’s motorcycle. The names of those service members who lost their lives during the previous three months are read aloud by the attendees and an American Flag is placed in PVC tubes located in the Field of Honor for each name read. This is followed by the Navy’s traditional Two Bell Ceremony honoring fallen shipmates. The Riverview Detachment of the Marine Corps League will conduct a rifle salute and TAPS. This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend to show your support and respect for America’s service members.
